Can Concrete Be Poured In Cold Weather?

The simple answer to this question is, yes. Concrete can be poured in weather with a daytime high of 32 degrees or higher. We typically do our best to plan ahead and avoid days where there will be expected snow.

There are a couple of steps that we can take prior to concrete arriving to the job site, if we know that the weather will be cold. We can have calcium added to the concrete, this helps the concrete to dry better. Also, during the colder seasons, the concrete plant will add hot water to the mix. This helps the concrete to set up more efficiently.

Once the job is complete, we place special blankets over the concrete. These blankets keep the heat in, when nighttime lows drop below 30 degrees.
